Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Food Handler Permit if required by the state or local jurisdiction
  • Minimum one year experience in a food preparation setting
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Demonstrated good and consistent attendance
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and texture/liquid modifications
  • Knowledge of safe food handling procedures
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local food safety regulations
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with menu management software
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to perform cleaning and sanitation tasks
  • Adherence to dress code and professional appearance
  • Ability to comply with health, safety, and professional education requirements
  • Capability to report to work on schedule

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and city food codes and regulations
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office proficiency and ability to learn menu management systems
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English

  • Maintaining current certifications relevant to the role.

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparing food following department standardized recipes, planned menus, and policies and procedures
  • Serves and portions food per patient diet order, department standardized recipes, planned menus, and policies and procedures
  • Follow standardized menus for patients and cafeteria food preparation
  • Make only authorized changes to the planned menu and record the change according to established policy
  • Use production sheets to direct preparation and quantity of food
  • Complete food preparation to meet established mealtimes
  • Prepare and serve food at the proper temperature set forth by the FDA Food Code
  • Prepare patient snack orders using a production sheet, ensure proper labeling and timely distribution
  • Label, date, and store food properly including leftovers
  • Assist in receiving, storing, and verifying invoices for incoming food supplies as instructed by supervisor
  • Ensure adequate supply of food and report stock deficiencies in a timely manner
  • Use food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste
  • Stock nourishment rooms and administration suites per procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and uncluttered work area during food preparation and service
  • Perform cleaning duties using proper chemicals and infection control techniques
  • Wash dishes, pots, and pans according to procedures
  • Take dish machine temperature and sanitizer concentration, log results, and report issues
  • Store dishes, pots, and pans to prevent contamination
  • Operate and maintain equipment following safety guidelines and report problems
  • Maintain department security
  • Check new diet orders, discharges, and room changes before meal assembly
  • Assist patients with selective menus and complete orders
  • Use menu management software to update patient info and generate tray tickets
  • Adhere to company code of conduct and policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
  • Demonstrate excellent guest relations skills
  • Work cooperatively as a team member
  • Follow dress code and maintain neat appearance
  • Complete mandatory health, safety, and professional development requirements
  • Report absences according to policy
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings
  • Maintain current position certification
