Job Requirements

  • Must hold or be eligible for an Indiana teaching license
  • Must have over 4000-6000 documented hours in culinary field within last five years for Workforce Specialist eligibility
  • Must document attainment of degrees required for Indiana licensure
  • Must demonstrate ability to stand for extended periods often
  • Must be able to carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Must have ability to work at desks and meetings very frequently
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be flexible with school day and daily prep time
  • Must complete mini-bus training and be available to drive
  • Must adhere to Individual Education Plans
  • Employment is year to year based on substantial enrollment

Job Qualifications

  • Hold or be eligible for an Indiana teaching license
  • Hold or be eligible for a Workforce Specialist license with documented culinary arts experience
  • Hold CTE licensure in Family & Consumer Sciences 5-12 or Culinary Arts 9-12
  • Document successful attainment of degrees required for Indiana licensure
  • Preferably have teaching experience in career and technical education
  • Demonstrate proficiency in food preparation, baking, and catering
  • Possess knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and storage procedures
  • Understand kitchen equipment usage and culinary tools
  • Ability to relate nutrition principles to menu development
  • Exhibit strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs
  • Knowledge of marketing, business partnerships, project-based learning, mentoring, internships, and service learning opportunities
  • Experience supporting Career-Technical Student Organizations
  • Demonstrated commitment to community and parental involvement

Job Duties

  • Teach culinary arts students in a classroom setting based on curriculum and instructional materials
  • Develop daily lesson plans to cover curricular content throughout the semester or school year
  • Utilize various instructional methods to meet individual student needs and assess student learning
  • Modify instruction, re-teach, and remediate students to ensure success
  • Demonstrate proficiency in food preparation, baking, and catering techniques
  • Teach safety, sanitation, and storage procedures in food preparation
  • Identify and demonstrate the proper use of culinary equipment and tools
  • Relate principles of nutrition to menu development
  • Operate back-of-the-house and front-of-the-house procedures efficiently
  • Support the Culinary Arts Instructor(s) in program delivery
  • Assist with lab preparation, setup, and instructional demonstrations
  • Maintain department equipment and labs
  • Assist with inventory management and record keeping including purchasing documents
  • Support Career-Technical education promotion and student contest participation
  • Develop marketing and public relations plans for the program
  • Exhibit strong organizational and communication skills
  • Adhere to Individual Education Plans and differentiate instruction through tiered-leveled instruction
  • Administer assessments as required
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Assist with covering all classes/programs as assigned
  • Complete mini-bus training and be available to drive as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
