Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • basic knowledge of baking and pastry
  • ability to work afternoon hours on weekdays
  • ability to lift and stand for extended periods
  • willingness to follow safety and sanitation protocols

Job Qualifications

  • ability to follow recipes accurately or willingness to learn
  • understanding of kitchen sanitation and food safety practices
  • ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • professional attitude and willingness to learn
  • enrolled in GCU's Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related program preferred
  • current ServSafe Food Handler or Food Safety Manager certification or willingness to obtain preferred
  • previous experience in a bakery, cafe, production kitchen, or culinary lab preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Prepare, scale, mix, and bake pastries, cookies, muffins, breads, doughs, and other items for GCBC retail operations
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency across campus locations
  • Label, package, and date baked goods according to GCU food safety standards
  • Monitor product quality and report issues to the Director of Culinary Arts or Production Lead
  • Maintain clean workstation and assist with end-of-shift breakdown and sanitation
  • Assist faculty with lab setup including ingredient scaling, equipment preparation, and workstation organization
  • Clean, sanitize, and reset culinary labs before and after classes
