Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- strong functional knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- ability to communicate clearly and understand instructions
- ability to follow food assembly and packaging instructions
- read and understand English
- mid-level math skills
- direct patient care competency as required
- valid Michigan driver’s license and insurability may be required
- extensive customer service experience preferred
- self-motivated and independent
- excellent computer skills
- strong organizational skills
- ability to work all positions within the department
- physical stamina for lifting up to 50 pounds and performing repetitive tasks

Job Qualifications
- Strong functional knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- ability to communicate clearly and understand basic verbal and written instructions
- ability to follow basic food assembly and packaging instructions
- mid-level math skills for food costing and recipe scaling
- employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate population-specific competencies
- extensive customer service experience
- self-motivated and creative thinker
- excellent computer skills
- strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- dietary technician certification preferred
- related experience or education in therapeutic diets
- functional knowledge of cash register or dietary software
- three years cooking experience, preferably in high volume healthcare
- completion of KVCC Bronson Healthy Living Campus courses
- 5+ years leadership experience or college credits
- previous experience in food supply chain or agriculture
- Serve Safe certification or similar third-party food safety certification
Job Duties
- Assembly and service of foods and supplies to customers, patients, and supply facilities
- delivery of meals and supplies to patients
- light and heavy cleaning such as dishwashing, trash, facility cleaning
- operation of cash register and patient meal ordering systems
- stocking and filling, product labeling and dating, product rotation
- prepares, apportions, distributes, and stores various hot and cold food items according to recipes and production sheets
- measures, washes, cleans, mixes, and combines ingredients for food preparation
- operates automatic appliances and manual kitchen utensils
- appropriately modifies production amounts given the proper recipe
- maintains highest standard of quality and proper cooking methods
- demonstrates commitment to outstanding customer service
- performs various cooking tasks including preparing meats, vegetables, desserts, and special dishes
- bakes breads, cakes, cookies, and pies as needed
- cleans and maintains kitchen equipment
- performs job assignments independently, referring difficult problems to management
- communicates and ensures compliance with policies and procedures
- follows sanitation techniques
- charts intakes and updates patient diet info
- classifies patients for room service
- assists patients with meal ordering
- delivers and retrieves patient meals
- shift-specific responsibility for break schedules, customer service, timeliness, product quality and safety
- works all positions within department
- ensures timely food production
- follows FIFO rotation
- maintains quality control logs
- performs inventory and identifies opportunities for cross-utilization
- responsible for receiving, storage, and rotation of food items
- supports inventory and ordering
- confirms shift change checklists
- assists in training new team members
- performs other duties as assigned
