Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience preferred but not necessary
  • Basic food safety knowledge or Serve Safe certification
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion sizes accurately
  • Capability to work standing for long periods
  • Physical stamina to lift 40 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Open availability including holidays and weekends
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
  • Effective English communication skills
  • Ability to take direction positively
  • Must complete and pass a food safety quiz with a score of 90% or above

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated cooking skills and ability to follow printed recipes and plate specifications
  • Basic food safety knowledge and/or Serve Safe certification
  • Ability to work well in a guest and team-oriented environment
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • Physical capacity to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot environment
  • Open availability including holidays and weekends
  • Reliable and dependable transportation
  • Ability to take direction in a positive manner
  • Willingness to participate in team meetings and offer suggestions for improvement

Job Duties

  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, fryers, pasta cookers, saute burners, convection oven and refrigeration equipment
  • Prepares items for grilling, frying, sauteing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly
  • Assists in food preparation during off-peak periods as needed
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Assists others in closing the kitchen
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chef or manager-on-duty
