Job Requirements

  • Has minimum of 3 years’ experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews
  • Possess excellent leadership skills and able to handle stressful situations and multi-task
  • Basic knowledge of trees, identification, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques near energized conductors
  • Knowledge of American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and reading circuit maps
  • Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
  • Enforces on-the-job safety practices
  • Able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Able to enter and exit vehicle multiple times per day
  • Able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather including rain, heat, sun, cold, snow
  • Able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions and information
  • Able to communicate professionally representing Wright Tree Service
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds infrequently and 30 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies including holidays, weekends, and storm work
  • Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and medical card required
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Maintains herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as required
  • Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards

Job Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques
  • Understanding of American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read circuit maps
  • Professional communication skills both verbal and written
  • Enforces safety practices
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment
  • Ability to understand written and verbal job instructions
  • Ability to represent Wright Tree Service professionally
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds infrequently and 30 pounds frequently
  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and call-outs during emergencies
  • Skill in operating and servicing required tools and equipment
  • Valid commercial driver's license and medical card, depending on division and contract requirements
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR certification
  • Herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as required

Job Duties

  • Supervises a line clearance crew and plans daily work for the crew
  • Assigns work to individual crew members and directs crew according to accepted line clearance practices
  • Recognizes poisonous plants and uses proper safeguards
  • Enforces safe work practices and conducts safety training
  • Obtains permission from property owners for tree trimming, removal, and herbicide application
  • Promotes and maintains good customer and public relations through effective work completion
  • Keeps accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew performance
  • Interprets tree trimming, removal, and chemical application orders
  • Conducts safety training of assigned personnel
  • Controls crew costs by managing manpower, work methods, and equipment
  • Assesses inclement weather to determine work start or stop
  • Establishes safety barriers and cooperates with emergency services
  • Inspects trucks, tools, and equipment, requesting repairs as needed
  • Takes emergency actions to eliminate hazards and expedite restoration
  • Performs tree trimming and removal using various tools and climbing equipment
  • Applies herbicides to prevent growth
  • Loads and unloads trucks, operates wood chipper
  • Repairs minor damages to property
  • Services tools and equipment
  • Directs traffic and maintains work area order
  • Trains new employees on procedures
  • Works near energized power lines and hazardous equipment
  • Wears necessary personal protective equipment
  • Works in diverse weather and terrain conditions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
