Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews
  • Possess excellent leadership skills
  • Basic knowledge of tree biology and arboricultural techniques
  • Knowledge of ANSI Z133.1-2000 standards
  • Basic electrical circuit knowledge
  • Effective communication skills
  • Enforce on-the-job safety practices
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to frequently enter and exit vehicles
  • Ability to withstand various weather conditions
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend job-related instructions
  • Professional interaction skills
  • Physical capability to lift and move required weights
  • Ability to work extended and call-out hours

  • Valid commercial driver’s license and medical card

  • Maintain herbicide applicator/operator license

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience on tree trimming or clearing crews or successful completion of applicable performance reviews
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to handle stressful situations
  • Basic knowledge of trees including identification and arboricultural techniques
  • Understanding of American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read circuit maps
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to enforce safety practices
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times daily
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to write, read, and comprehend job instructions
  • Ability to represent Wright Tree Service professionally
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work long hours and overtime including emergency call-outs
  • Ability to operate and service required tools and equipment
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and medical card as required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Valid first-aid and CPR certification
  • Maintains required herbicide applicator or operator certifications and licenses

Job Duties

  • Supervises a line clearance crew and plans daily work for crew
  • Assigns work to individual crew members and directs work following accepted line clearance practices
  • Recognizes poisonous plants and implements safeguards
  • Enforces safe work practices and conducts safety training
  • Obtains permissions from property owners to trim or remove trees and apply herbicides
  • Maintains good customer and public relations
  • Keeps accurate records and reports on crew performance
  • Interprets tree trimming, removal, and chemical application orders
  • Trains personnel on safety and proper procedures
  • Controls crew costs and manages equipment maintenance
  • Determines work schedule based on weather conditions
  • Sets up barriers and warning signs to protect employees and the public
  • Performs tree trimming and removal using climbing and ground methods
  • Sprays stumps and brush to prevent growth
  • Loads and unloads trucks
  • Repairs minor property damage
  • Operates and services tools and equipment
  • Relays hand-signals and directs traffic
  • Trains new employees on procedures
  • Works safely around hazardous equipment and energized power lines
  • Uses personal protective equipment
  • May work on rough terrain and in all weather conditions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
