Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews or successful performance reviews
  • Possess excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and multi-task
  • Basic knowledge of trees including identification and arboricultural techniques
  • Knowledge of American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and reading circuit maps
  • Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
  • Enforce on-the-job safety practices
  • Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment
  • Ability to enter and exit vehicles multiple times daily
  • Ability to withstand various weather conditions
  • Proficient in written, reading, and comprehension of job instructions
  • Professional in communication representing Wright Tree Service
  • Physically able to lift and move up to 50 pounds infrequently and 30 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work long hours, overtime, and emergencies
  • Proficiency at operating and servicing required tools
  • Valid commercial driver’s license and medical card
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Maintains herbicide applicator certification
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR cards

Job Duties

  • Supervises a line clearance crew and plans daily work for the crew
  • Assigns work to individual crew members and directs work according to accepted line clearance practices
  • Recognizes poisonous plants and uses proper safeguards
  • Enforces safe work practices and conducts safety training
  • Obtains permission from property owners to trim or remove trees and apply herbicides
  • Maintains good customer and public relations
  • Keeps accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew performance
  • Interprets tree trimming, removal, and chemical application orders
  • Responsible for safety training of assigned personnel
  • Controls crew costs through effective use of manpower and work methods
  • Determines work start or stop based on weather conditions
  • Safeguards employees and public from hazards and coordinates with local authorities
  • Inspects trucks, tools, and equipment and requests repairs
  • Manages emergency work to restore service
  • Performs tree trimming and removal using climbing and ground methods
  • Uses appropriate tools to fell trees and split trunks
  • Sprays stumps and brush with herbicides
  • Loads and unloads trucks and operates wood chippers
  • Repairs minor property damage caused by tree work
  • Services tools and equipment
  • Directs traffic and maintains orderly work areas
  • Trains new employees in proper procedures
  • Works around hazardous equipment and energized power lines
  • Handles noise exposure using personal protective equipment
  • Performs duties in all weather conditions
  • Works on rough terrain
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
