Job Requirements
- Ability to work 7 days a week while onboard the ship
- commitment to 6-8 weeks of work followed by 2 weeks of unpaid vacation
- adaptability to ship motions including surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch, and yaw
- capability to respond to last-minute requests or changes promptly
- ability to multi-task and thrive in a team setting
- work calmly and effectively under pressure
- ability to work approximately 12 hours per day
- assist in on-board emergencies which may involve climbing a ladder and maneuvering through a 20 inch diameter hatch
- stand for the duration of the shift
- lift up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- frequent bending, squatting, and reaching as necessary
- ability to reside and work onboard a vessel for extended periods
- use stairs regularly
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree in Culinary Arts or Pastry and Baking, or 3-5 years of relevant experience with a focus on quality production
- basic understanding of professional baking and pastry techniques, along with food and beverage knowledge
- strong problem-solving, organization, and self-motivation skills
- commitment to delivering exceptional service
- ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- completion of a criminal background check
- possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- capacity to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
Job Duties
- Lead the preparation and artistry of desserts, breads, pastries, and cookies for the vessel on a daily basis
- prepare and serve menu items following established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards
- set up, maintain, and break down the work station according to FDA standards
- taste all products to ensure quality and consistency
- communicate product shortages or equipment issues to the Executive Chef
- keep accurate counts of all food items to align prepared quantities with requirements
- schedule the production of all baked goods for efficiency
- maintain a steady inventory of fresh baked goods
- utilize food production equipment properly and safely
- maintain a professional appearance at all times
- ensure each guest has a positive and memorable experience
