Job Duties
- Inform guests of any menu changes and daily specials - make recommendations you genuinely feel Covey guests will enjoy
- Efficiently clean and immediately reset tables or counters after guests have finished dining - assist colleagues in cleaning and resetting tables
- Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests - chill bottles of wine at tables as requested
- Dry silverware, set up serving and food stations, prepare kitchen or dining areas for next shifts or large parties according to checklists
- Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens following Covey protocols
- Explain to guests and colleagues how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
- Prepare tables for meals including linens, silverware, and glassware, maintaining symmetry and cleanliness
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables and transport them to the kitchen for cleaning
- Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, greeting, seating, and thanking guests
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, tidying server stations, taking out trash, and cleaning bathrooms
- Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate stemware, properly present and pour wines following Covey service protocols
- Perform food preparation duties including preparing salads, appetizers, cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee
- Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving
- Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers
- Describe and recommend wines to guests
- Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
- Coordinate and assist fellow employees to meet guest needs and support restaurant operations
- Fill-in for fellow employees as needed to maintain service standards
- Follow Covey uniform standards
- Provide guests with information about local areas, including directions
