Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in kitchen, restaurant, or food service management setting
- Serv Safe Certification obtained or must be obtained within first 6 months
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment
- Ability to understand diet statements, recipes, and menus
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods
- Skill in food preparation and presentation
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow safety policies
- Basic arithmetic and recipe adjustment skills
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- At least 2 years experience in kitchen, restaurant, or food service management setting
- Serv Safe Certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months
- Ability to safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment including mixers, ovens, fryers, grills, blenders, slicers
- Ability to understand diet statements, recipes, and menus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and stand for prolonged periods
- Skilled in cooking and preparing a variety of foods
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods and quality standards
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to follow safety policies and procedures
- Basic arithmetic skills for recipe adjustments
Job Duties
- Collects and delivers food ingredients and supplies from storeroom and coolers for weekly operations for all cottages
- Reviews production schedule and menu to determine food requirements including variety and quantity
- Assists with Cottage Kitchen Coordinators schedules and finding coverage for open shifts
- Assists Nursing Admin with culinary surveys at cottages
- Prepares meals for special cottage events and holidays as needed
- Prepares meals in accordance with special diet statements
- Receives and places food orders and ensures all items are received for all cottages
- Monitors cleanliness of work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Practices appropriate sanitation and safety techniques in accord with Serv Safe
- Practices knife and equipment safety at all times
- Performs daily and weekly cleaning checks
- Monitors labeling of all foods appropriately
- Checks and disposes spoiled or outdated foods
- Maintains and tracks all production records, food temperature logs, and menus
- Attends to day-to-day problems concerning equipment and food supplies
- Follows safety rules and attends mandatory safety trainings
- Supports Eden Alternative philosophy including plants and animals
- Follows St John’s customer service guidelines
- Complies with certification and training requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
