Job Requirements
- Obtain a valid liquor license prior to first day if applicable
- Availability to work shifts between 10am and 10pm
- Completion of ongoing training and development as required by Cosentino's Learning Plan
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to bend, squat and reach overhead
- Ability to operate cash register and related equipment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good communication skills
- Compliance with all health regulations and safety procedures
- Ability to follow documented procedures for payment processing
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous cashier or retail experience preferred
- Basic math and reading skills
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to operate electronic cash registers and related equipment
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
- Ability to comply with health and safety regulations
- Ability to handle cash and other payment methods accurately
- Ability to resolve customer complaints professionally
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for the job
Job Duties
- Accurately receive and process payment for purchases by various methods including cash, checks, gift cards, credit and debit cards, use of coupons, or other approved payment options
- Follow documented procedures to correctly process payment for purchases involving government assistance programs
- Accurately issue customer receipts and change due to customers
- Identify products by PLUs, scale, and/or produce number
- Operate electronic cash registers, scanners, check verification equipment and overhead intercom system
- Utilize proper bagging and cashiering techniques to minimize product damage, maximize efficiency and reduce shrink
- Ensure the front end is always clean and displays a professional overall appearance for customers
- Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner and recognize when to involve store management
- Comply with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines and safety procedures
- Maintain knowledge of store items, procedures and policies to accurately and courteously answer customer questions
- Operate, clean and maintain all equipment safely and competently
- Meet or exceed productivity standards to produce desired team and individual results
- Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive interactions
- Comply with governmental regulations regarding weights and measures, alcohol and tobacco sales, and government food assistance programs
- Promote sales by suggesting additional products or services
- Step in to train new cashiers as directed
- Return customer unwanted items to shelves or department
- Assist in tasks identified by management and support other stores or departments when needed
- Perform physical tasks such as reaching overhead, lifting up to 30 pounds, pushing and pulling grocery carts, standing for long periods, bending and squatting
- Climb ladders up to 5 feet if required
