Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or trade school certificate
  • 2-4 years of relevant industrial experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking, grasping, talking, hearing, and visual acuity
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and wear protective equipment when required
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and follow safety protocols
  • Moderate travel willingness (50-75 percent)
  • Ability to obtain REAL ID if required for travel or facility access

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or trade school with 2-4 years of industrial related experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards 29 CFR 1910, 1915, 1923 is preferred
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA STD Item 009-32, 009-74, SSPC-1 is preferred
  • Ability to obtain a passport is preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance

Job Duties

  • Perform corrosion control and preservation on naval vessels in tanks, compartments and hulls utilizing specialized coating applications
  • Prepare all types of surfaces for preservation
  • Complete work within the requirements of NAVSEA Standards
  • Remove old paint and debris from all types of substrates by scraping, chipping, and sanding
  • Apply coatings in accordance with specifications and good marine practice
  • Brush and roll painting to pass all inspection processes
  • Perform confined space attendant duties including establishing a communication system with entrants, recognizing potential hazards, monitoring for heat exhaustion or disorientation, and keeping an accurate count and list of personnel
  • Work under general supervision performing standard corrosion control and confined space duties
  • Use basic hand tools and machinery for corrosion and coating applications
  • Perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines
