Job Requirements

  • Must pass a drug screening test
  • Possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License
  • Must clear a background check
  • Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to crimes listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c)
  • Provide complete and detailed education and experience information in the application
  • Willingness to work full-time in a secure juvenile correctional environment
  • Ability to supervise and train food service staff
  • Compliance with all food service and operational regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of food service experience or training in institutional, hospital, military, or commercial food service operation
  • Twenty-four semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, or institutional management
  • Possession of a permanent or provisional Louisiana dietitian/nutritionist license plus one year of licensed dietetics experience

Job Duties

  • Supervise juvenile corrections food production workers during meal preparation and service
  • Oversee daily food production activities including receiving menus, preparing ingredients, and monitoring cooking methods
  • Ensure proper portion sizes, food quality, and adherence to safety, sanitation, and security standards
  • Direct cleaning of food preparation areas, equipment, dishes, and dining spaces
  • Train new workers on food service policies, procedures, and safe kitchen practices
  • Requisition, receive, store, and distribute food supplies while maintaining secure storage areas
  • Maintain compliance with all food service regulations and operational guidelines
  • Perform related duties to support safe, efficient, and consistent food service operations
