Job Requirements
- Must obtain a Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of hire
- current State employees must attach supervisor's authorization to apply
- ability to work in a secure correctional facility environment
- willingness to enforce security procedures including searches for contraband
- must pass Criminal Justice Information Systems fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
- meet minimum qualifications if not applying under temporary opportunity

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent education
- one year of experience in commercial food service or related field, or an associate's degree in Food Service Management or related field
- demonstrated experience supervising or managing kitchen staff
- ability to instruct and train workers
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certificate
- basic computer skills
- ability to follow security procedures
- knowledge of cooking a variety of foods
Job Duties
- Coordinate the work flow and assign work to Adult in Custody workers
- direct work crews to ensure rules, policies, procedures, and security guidelines are enforced
- instruct and train Adults in Custody on work techniques and food preparation procedures
- evaluate work performance for training and assignment purposes
- conduct searches of Adults in Custody and work areas for contraband
- check and sign time cards
- monitor cleanliness, sanitation, and order in the work area
- direct food preparation including cooking, baking, and serving according to menus and portion control
- adjust recipes for large quantities and minimize food waste
- plan cooking schedules
- monitor special and therapeutic diets
- conduct inventory and order supplies
- maintain records on food preparation, inventory, and worker hours
- enforce sanitation standards in food service areas
