Job Requirements

  • Background investigation clearance prior to hire
  • Medical clearance prior to hire
  • Successful completion of the CORRECTIONAL SUPERVISING COOK examination
  • Valid email address for communication purposes
  • Submit complete application package including required forms and documents
  • Ability to work permanently full-time in Solano County
  • Compliance with all relevant health and safety standards
  • Tuberculosis testing clearance
  • Must be able to maintain order and safety in a correctional environment

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience in California state service as a Cook Specialist II or Cook Specialist II Correctional Facility
  • Two years supervisory experience over cooks and food service workers
  • Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
  • Ability to supervise and train diverse teams
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety regulations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Supervise and train staff and incarcerated workers in meal preparation and service
  • Oversee preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets per physician orders
  • Ensure compliance with departmental and institutional policies including Title 15 and California Code of Regulations Title 22
  • Maintain cleaning and sanitation of kitchen facilities and equipment
  • Supervise conduct of incarcerated workers maintaining order and safety
  • Monitor adherence to Food and Nutrition Services Manual and Diet Manual guidelines
  • Coordinate with food service and health care staff to ensure nutritional standards
