Job Qualifications

  • equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
  • one year of experience performing the duties of a Cook Specialist II in California state service or two years supervisory experience over cooks and food service workers
  • knowledge of food preparation and therapeutic diets
  • ability to supervise and train staff and incarcerated workers
  • familiarity with Title 15, Department Operations Manual, California Code of Regulations Title 22
  • effective communication and leadership skills
  • ability to maintain safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • supervise and train staff and incarcerated workers responsible for meal preparation for patients
  • oversee preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets as per physician orders
  • ensure compliance with departmental and institutional policies and procedures including Title 15 and California Code of Regulations Title 22
  • supervise cleaning and sanitation of kitchen facility and equipment
  • maintain order and supervise conduct of incarcerated workers
  • protect and maintain safety of persons and property
  • collaborate with health care and correctional teams to support facility operations
