Job Qualifications
- equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
- one year of experience performing the duties of a Cook Specialist II in California state service or two years supervisory experience over cooks and food service workers
- knowledge of food preparation and therapeutic diets
- ability to supervise and train staff and incarcerated workers
- familiarity with Title 15, Department Operations Manual, California Code of Regulations Title 22
- effective communication and leadership skills
- ability to maintain safety and sanitation standards
Job Duties
- supervise and train staff and incarcerated workers responsible for meal preparation for patients
- oversee preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets as per physician orders
- ensure compliance with departmental and institutional policies and procedures including Title 15 and California Code of Regulations Title 22
- supervise cleaning and sanitation of kitchen facility and equipment
- maintain order and supervise conduct of incarcerated workers
- protect and maintain safety of persons and property
- collaborate with health care and correctional teams to support facility operations
