Job Requirements
- background investigation clearance prior to hire
- medical clearance prior to hire
- ability to work part-time 16 hours per week
- meet minimum qualifications as specified including relevant experience and education
- pass required examination for list eligibility
- maintain valid email address for communication
- adhere to safety and operational protocols
- comply with confidentiality requirements regarding personal information
- submit complete and accurate employment history and supporting documents
- tuberculosis testing and evaluation prior to appointment and annually thereafter
Job Qualifications
- one year of experience in California state service performing duties of Cook Specialist II (Correctional Facility) or Cook Specialist II
- or two years of supervisory experience over cooks and food service workers with responsibility for preparation, cooking, and serving of various food items
- equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
- must pass the Correctional Supervising Cook, CF examination to obtain list eligibility
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to supervise and train staff
- understanding of therapeutic diet preparation
Job Duties
- supervise and train staff and incarcerated workers responsible for meal preparation for patients
- oversee preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets per physician orders
- ensure adherence to departmental and institutional policies including Title 15 and California Retail Food Code
- supervise cleaning and sanitation of kitchen facilities and equipment
- maintain order and supervise conduct of incarcerated individuals
- protect and maintain safety of persons and property
- ensure compliance with food and nutrition services manuals
