Job Requirements

  • Meet minimum qualifications outlined in the class specification
  • Possess valid background investigation clearance including Live Scan fingerprinting
  • Provide Tuberculosis test and ongoing evaluation compliance
  • Ability to work in a correctional facility environment
  • Availability to work various shifts and schedules
  • Use of a valid email address for communication
  • Adherence to all CDCR rules and policies
  • Submission of required application documents by final filing date

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in cooking and food preparation
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food sanitation and safety standards
  • Ability to instruct and supervise incarcerated persons effectively
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work various shifts and schedules

Job Duties

  • Ensure all food items needed for meals are present and in proper amounts
  • Supervise the preparation of meals ensuring food meets standards for quality and wholesomeness
  • Instruct incarcerated persons in cooking procedures, sanitation, and proper use of utensils and equipment
  • Adhere to institutional procedures, Department Operations Manual, and Food Services policies
  • Maintain a sanitary and safe kitchen environment
  • Monitor inventory and requisition supplies as needed
  • Enforce adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
