Job Requirements
- Satisfactorily complete an ODOC background investigation
- Pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check
- No evidence of substance abuse
- Subject to testing for prohibited drug use
- Acceptable work experience documented in application
- Complete Statement of Personal History
- Pass pre-employment medical exam and psychological evaluation
- Ability to comprehend, write reports, and retain information
- Meet physical and mental fitness requirements
Job Qualifications
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Be 21 years of age or older
- United States citizen
- Pass the NTN test with a minimum score of 70 percent in all areas
- Proficient with computer use
- Possess valid driver’s license
- Pass psychological evaluation and risk assessment
- Good employee work history
- History of law-abiding behavior
- Meet DPSST physical standards
Job Duties
- Maintain order within the institution
- Enforce rules and regulations
- Provide care and ensure safety of adults in custody
- Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband
- Settle disputes and enforce discipline
- Monitor and supervise activities and work assignments of adults in custody
- Inspect and report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards
