Job Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
  • one to three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services or management of commercial food service operations or as a Correctional Officer depending on classification level
  • must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
  • ability to work any shift including rotating, fixed, or split shifts
  • willingness to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime
  • compliance with the State Human Resources Act
  • passing applicable background and qualification checks

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Working a dual role of both supervising offenders and providing food production training
  • supervising offenders in their assigned food preparation and food service work areas including cooking, baking, and serving food
  • maintaining sanitary food handling practices
  • managing inventory levels of food and supplies requiring rotation
  • ensuring the timely ordering of food products and cleaning supplies
  • maintaining food service equipment
  • adhering to menu specifications
