Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year experience in institutional food preparation or commercial food service management or as a Correctional Officer
  • eligibility for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
  • ability to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • capability to handle mandatory overtime
  • effective written and verbal communication skills
  • proficiency with computer data management

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services or commercial food service management or as a Correctional Officer
  • eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to manage inventory and rotate supplies
  • knowledge of nutritional values and menu specifications

Job Duties

  • Supervising offenders in assigned food preparation and service areas
  • providing food production training to offenders
  • overseeing large-scale food production and food services
  • maintaining all food service equipment properly
  • managing inventory levels including ordering supplies
  • ensuring sanitary food handling practices
  • maintaining accurate computer and written records related to food service operations
