Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of relevant experience in institutional food preparation, food services management, or correctional duties
  • Eligibility for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
  • Ability to work any shift including rotating, fixed, or split shifts
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime, weekends, holidays
  • Capable of managing offenders in food service environments
  • Maintain effective communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in institutional food preparation and food services, commercial food service management, or correctional officer duties
  • Eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
  • Ability to supervise and train offenders effectively
  • Knowledge of food safety and nutrition
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Capability to work shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime

Job Duties

  • Supervising offenders performing food preparation and food service duties including cooking, baking, and serving food
  • Providing food production training to offenders
  • Monitoring and ensuring adherence to sanitary food handling and safety protocols
  • Maintaining and overseeing the operation of food service equipment and utensils
  • Managing inventory levels of food products and cleaning supplies including rotation and timely ordering
  • Communicating effectively with staff and offenders both verbally and in writing
  • Accurately entering and maintaining operational data in computer systems
