Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline
  • CPR/Standard First Aid Certification or must obtain within 45 days of employment
  • Ability to operate university vehicles
  • Criminal background check
  • Driver's license check
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to travel to FIU campus

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline
  • Experience in campus recreation operations
  • CPR/Standard First Aid Certification or must obtain within 45 days of employment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage and train student staff
  • Knowledge of risk management and emergency procedures
  • Ability to coordinate and support facility events
  • Experience with inventory management and purchasing
  • Proficient in recreation software systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Manage student employees overseeing facility operations at the Wellness and Recreation Center
  • Coordinate facility purchasing needs with Assistant Director of Facilities Operations
  • Maintain department standards and disciplinary action plans
  • Develop and implement training for student staff
  • Manage inventory and equipment at the Pro Shop including purchasing and assessment
  • Support special events including setup, administration and supervision
  • Oversee risk management issues and assist with comprehensive risk management planning
  • Assist in supervising Recreation Center daily operations especially evenings and weekends
  • Serve as Shelter Manager during hurricane shelter conversion
  • Administer CPR and First Aid courses to staff
  • Maintain recreation software system
  • Support facility and staff operations at BBC as needed
  • Facilitate communication between students and staff to improve facilities and programs
  • Maintain inventory management system ensuring equipment uptime
  • Enforce facility staff and patron policies
  • Oversee application, interviewing and hiring process for facility student staff
  • Communicate vision for the Wellness and Recreation Center
  • Respond to emergencies including hurricanes and university closures
