Job Requirements
- Full-time position with 35 hours per week
- Salary of $46,956 annually
- Part of AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit
- Ability to work routine weekends
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Able to move through crowded public spaces for extended periods
- Ability to sit on low stools or the floor to interact with children
- PA Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting required
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and perform administrative duties
- Successful background check after conditional job offer
- Uphold professional standards and museum ethics
- Maintain confidentiality and respect diversity
- Adhere to museum protocols, procedures, rules, and policies
Job Qualifications
- Familiarity with art making materials or interest in art history and museums
- Experience working with children in formal and informal settings
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of early childhood learning and process art curriculum
- Understanding of object-based and inquiry-based teaching methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including public speaking
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrated planning and organizational abilities
- Experience in audience engagement
Job Duties
- Design innovative art activities for children ages 3-10 and families
- Oversee design, preparation, and implementation of gallery tours for children and families
- Support planning and facilitation of Family Festivals including gallery activations and artist collaborations
- Collaborate with early childhood programming staff to facilitate pre-school lessons
- Hire, train, schedule, and oversee part-time Gallery Teachers and Program Assistants
- Develop written educational resources based on the museum’s collections
- Provide administrative support including event planning, attendance reporting, and correspondence
