Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must obtain the Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) and/or the Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) once eligible
  • One year experience in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment safely
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, bending, climbing and other movements required
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices and protocols
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to comply with applicable laws, regulations and organizational policies
  • Ability to work a second shift schedule, Monday through Friday
  • Regular caregiver type status

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting requirements in healthcare settings
  • Experience in using personal protective equipment
  • Familiarity with infection control policies and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and logs
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to coordinate staffing and departmental operations
  • Understanding of safety protocols and risk management in healthcare environments

Job Duties

  • Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of specialty units and equipment
  • Performs duties demonstrating working knowledge of health care cleaning and disinfecting principles
  • Adheres to organization safety, risk management and infection control standards
  • Maintains all appropriate logs and checklists current
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment and areas according to procedures and recommendations
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives
  • Schedules and coordinates staffing of department
  • Responsible for quality of service provided by the department
  • Oversees operations including provision of supplies
  • Delivers customer service and/or patient care that promotes goodwill
  • Maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests
  • Complies with laws, regulations, policies and procedures supporting corporate integrity
