Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Three years of professional community engagement experience required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, databases, mobile devices, and software required
  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours
  • Knowledge of community engagement and communication services
  • Ability to manage staff, time, and resources effectively
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously according to deadlines
  • Knowledge of regional and local community dynamics and political environments

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Three years of professional community engagement experience required
  • Five years combined experience in customer service, business, communications, public administration, public relations or related field preferred
  • Specialized training in group facilitation, planning, participatory decision-making and engagement of diverse communities preferred
  • Two years supervising staff in community outreach or public information preferred
  • Direct experience presenting to public groups and governing boards preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, databases, mobile devices and software
  • Bilingual abilities (English and Spanish or other languages) preferred
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours when needed
  • Knowledge of community engagement principles and stakeholder involvement strategies
  • Strong management, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate sensitive discussions about race, culture, and inclusiveness
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Experience in survey design and data analysis
  • Capable of producing, editing, and refining professional documents

Job Duties

  • Manage a small team of community engagement professionals by planning, scheduling, delegating and overseeing employee work assignments
  • Authorize, coordinate and schedule work with vendors and consultants, conduct personnel actions, including interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating performance
  • Coordinate large event logistics including districtwide community events and inclusion celebrations, arrange facilities, communicate with all appropriate groups and coordinate volunteers
  • Assist and collaborate with the department supervisor to manage and direct comprehensive community involvement programs
  • Provide extensive engagement and outreach to campus communities, neighborhood, business, civic organizations, and public events
  • Assist in departmental budget development and monitor budget for the Community Engagement Team
  • Prepare design surveys, analyze results, prepare reports and manage event production
  • Develop and support data systems for district and campus level decision-making
  • Develop strategies and oversee implementation to build relationships supporting community engagement
  • Work collaboratively with communications divisions to design and disseminate public messages
  • Support planning, organization, problem-solving and execution of community engagement initiatives as assigned
  • Execute multiple projects simultaneously and meet short deadlines
  • Maintain the department database including mailing and organization lists
  • Develop and update the district website consistently
  • Serve as consultant for event planning and implementation
  • Serve as liaison between district leadership and stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations
  • Provide exceptional customer experience fostering a culture of respect
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
