Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in supporting individuals with disabilities
- certification or training in medication administration preferred
- ability to pass background checks and drug screening
- valid driver's license
- physical ability to assist with transferring and lifting individuals
- reliable transportation for work-related travel
- strong commitment to confidentiality and dignity of individuals
- flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- knowledge of personal care and support techniques
- ability to administer medication as per agency training
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- good organizational skills
- valid driver's license and safe driving record
Job Duties
- Supports individuals to achieve personal outcomes and a high quality of life
- assists and supports individuals to learn skills needed to accomplish goals through formal and informal training activities
- provides support, assistance, and supervision in areas including personal hygiene, independent living, meal planning and preparation, recreation, personal funds management, and health care including medication assistance
- assists individuals in planning and structuring activities
- transports and accompanies individuals on recreational outings, scheduled trips, and family visits as needed
- maintains the safety and well-being of all individuals in the home during the entire shift
- performs medication administration and documents fire drills
- assists in transferring and lifting individuals using proper techniques and adaptive equipment
- operates agency vehicles safely and follows all traffic laws
- supports individuals with positive behavior techniques and intervenes to preserve health and safety
- serves as a positive and professional role model consistent with agency mission, policies, and procedures
- completes all required documentation accurately and attends staff meetings
- supports the exercise of individuals' rights and responsibilities by maintaining dignity, confidentiality, and privacy
- follows safety rules and procedures
- performs other duties as assigned
