Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in supporting individuals with disabilities
  • certification or training in medication administration preferred
  • ability to pass background checks and drug screening
  • valid driver's license
  • physical ability to assist with transferring and lifting individuals
  • reliable transportation for work-related travel
  • strong commitment to confidentiality and dignity of individuals
  • flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • knowledge of personal care and support techniques
  • ability to administer medication as per agency training
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Supports individuals to achieve personal outcomes and a high quality of life
  • assists and supports individuals to learn skills needed to accomplish goals through formal and informal training activities
  • provides support, assistance, and supervision in areas including personal hygiene, independent living, meal planning and preparation, recreation, personal funds management, and health care including medication assistance
  • assists individuals in planning and structuring activities
  • transports and accompanies individuals on recreational outings, scheduled trips, and family visits as needed
  • maintains the safety and well-being of all individuals in the home during the entire shift
  • performs medication administration and documents fire drills
  • assists in transferring and lifting individuals using proper techniques and adaptive equipment
  • operates agency vehicles safely and follows all traffic laws
  • supports individuals with positive behavior techniques and intervenes to preserve health and safety
  • serves as a positive and professional role model consistent with agency mission, policies, and procedures
  • completes all required documentation accurately and attends staff meetings
  • supports the exercise of individuals' rights and responsibilities by maintaining dignity, confidentiality, and privacy
  • follows safety rules and procedures
  • performs other duties as assigned
