Job Requirements

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
  • All employees must maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah and provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of employment
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, communications, or related field (or associate’s degree with equivalent experience)
  • Experience with first-generation or academically at-risk student populations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to supervise and mentor student staff
  • Commitment to professionalism and inclusive leadership
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, communications, or related field (associate’s degree with 1 year of related full-time experience as substitute)
  • Experience working with first-generation, academically at-risk, or non-traditional student populations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
  • Experience in event planning, student affairs, or academic support services preferred
  • Familiarity with case management or mentoring models preferred
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus

Job Duties

  • Initiate, design, and implement workshops, recognition events, and engagement activities that support student retention and academic success
  • Coordinate logistics for events that connect students with faculty, staff, and campus resources
  • Develop programming that affirms community college student experiences and promotes belonging
  • Collaborate with departments such as Advising, Thayne Center, PACE, STEM Tutoring, Counseling, Writing Center, and TRIO to co-host events and share resources
  • Serve as a liaison to faculty and student services to align programming with student needs
  • Partner with mentoring programs to support students in transition
  • Provide light case management for students navigating academic and personal transitions
  • Connect students with mentors, academic support, and community resources
  • Track student progress and follow up on referrals
  • Supervise and mentor a part-time student staff member
  • Delegate tasks related to event setup, outreach, and peer engagement
  • Model professionalism and inclusive leadership
