Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to follow recipes and prepare meals according to nutritional needs
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to lead kitchen staff in food preparation and related tasks
  • Compliance with state and federal food handling regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification in Sanitation/Safe Food Handling preferred unless required by state and federal agencies
  • Prior institutional and/or healthcare service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Follow recipes and prepare food according to menus that meet residents' nutritional needs
  • Cook or prepare palatable, attractive, nutritionally adequate meals in needed quantities
  • Lead kitchen staff with food preparation, assembling trays, cleaning, and storing supplies and equipment
  • Maintain a clean food service work area during food preparation and service
  • Handle, store, and dispose of food supplies in compliance with departmental procedures and state and federal regulations
