Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one-year cooking or baking experience
- Able to read and write English and follow oral and written directions
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Able to work with and around equipment that generates heat, steam, cold
- Able to follow recipes to prepare food
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of HACCP and applicable food codes
- Demonstrates appropriate knife skills

Job Duties
- Cooks and seasons food for patients, employees, guests, and visitors following established recipes
- Prepares and stores food in accordance with HACCP principles and applicable food codes
- Safely uses, cleans, and cares for equipment and work areas
- Accurately manages position paperwork such as follows recipes and production sheets, completes forecasting documents
- Follows correct hand hygiene procedures including washing hands between tasks and using gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods
- Utilizes appropriate scripting and responds to patients/internal and external customers, promoting collaboration with cafeteria staff, dish room staff, supervisors, and others
- Effectively cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment and areas, paying special attention to specific tasks like cleaning slicers and microwaves
- Correctly date-marks food items, monitors temperature control, and ensures proper storage and food rotation to minimize waste
- Prepares, assembles, serves, cooks, or bakes food and beverages per guidelines and recipes, meeting time deadlines for service
