Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Three to five years cooking experience in hotel, restaurant, or hospital
- Culinary arts degree desired
- Preference for hospital experience
- Computer experience desired
- Good communication skills
- Able to interpret and follow recipes
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to use kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to measure and weigh ingredients accurately
- Ability to perform math calculations
- Ability to communicate in English
- Sanitation certification by Chicago Department of Public Health and Illinois State within 90 days of hire
- Able to lift 35 pounds unassisted
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to meet time constraints in fast-paced environment
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Able to perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, standing, walking, twisting, and climbing
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook food following prescribed recipes and production schedules
- Ensure adherence to deadlines for food production in various service areas
- Utilize food production systems for forecasting, recording, and reporting
- Place food into appropriate serving containers and deliver on time
- Monitor food quality by tasting and observing texture and temperature
- Batch cook food to minimize waste and maintain quality
- Follow HACCP procedures for food safety and record temperatures
- Understand and prepare modified diets as required
- Ensure attractive presentation and proper portion control
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment and comply with safety regulations
- Sanitize work areas and equipment
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store food items using FIFO method
- Report equipment needing repair
- Wear appropriate head coverings and gloves when handling food
- Monitor and document food spoilage
- Use proper body mechanics and observe equipment safety regulations
- Participate in safety initiatives and report safety issues
- Attend mandatory training and in-service sessions
- Submit ideas for process improvements and cost reduction
- Work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Contribute to improving patient satisfaction scores
