Job Requirements

  • Meet the barely acceptable level on screen-out elements for ability to supervise and aptitude for work with prisoners
  • receive at least one half of the total possible points in assessment
  • furnish detailed resume information demonstrating experience and skills
  • electronically upload Food Protection Manager Certification at time of application
  • be a current BOP employee in the Cook Supervisor WS-7404 position or meet selective factor requirement

Job Qualifications

  • Sufficient training and experience to perform the duties of the position
  • ability to supervise
  • aptitude for work with prisoners
  • knowledge of food preparation principles and cooking techniques
  • knowledge of special and modified diets including high protein, low cholesterol, low fat, calorie restricted, and sodium restricted diets
  • possession of Food Protection Manager Certification accredited by ANSI

Job Duties

  • Independently prepare all types of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, fruits, sauces, and gravies for regular and modified diet menus
  • prepare, cook, season, and portion food for all meals by following standardized recipes
  • plan and prepare or coordinate the preparation of entire meals
  • make substitutions and adjustments in food preparation procedures and seasoning
  • supervise food preparation and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • maintain accurate records of food inventories and meal preparation
  • ensure adherence to food protection regulations
