Job Requirements

  • Meet barely acceptable level on ability to supervise
  • Meet barely acceptable level on aptitude for work with prisoners
  • Achieve at least half of total possible assessment points
  • Provide detailed resume supporting experience and skills
  • Possess Food Protection Manager Certification
  • Electronically upload certification during application
  • Current BOP employees in Cook Supervisor WS-7404 considered qualified

Job Qualifications

  • Sufficient training and experience to perform duties
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles and techniques
  • Experience with large quantity cooking
  • Knowledge of special and modified diets
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes accurately
  • Food Protection Manager Certification accredited by ANSI

Job Duties

  • Independently prepare all types of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, fruits, sauces, and gravies for regular and modified diet menus
  • Prepare, cook, season, and portion food for all meals by following standardized recipes
  • Plan and prepare or coordinate the preparation of entire meals
  • Make substitutions and adjustments in food preparation procedures and seasoning
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed
