Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • meet special employment conditions including pre-employment checks and training
  • have Selective Service registration if applicable
  • provide Food Protection Manager Certification
  • successful completion of a correctional techniques training course
  • willingness to complete a 1-year probationary period
  • pass background investigation, drug test, and security checks
  • submit all required documents
  • no felony or misdemeanor convictions disqualifying for carrying firearms

Job Qualifications

  • Sufficient training and experience to perform position duties
  • ability to supervise
  • aptitude for work with prisoners
  • knowledge of food preparation principles including recipe development
  • experience cooking large quantities
  • knowledge of special and modified diets
  • Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-accredited provider

Job Duties

  • Provide supervision and instruction to inmate workers assigned kitchen duties
  • provide continual training to inmate workers on food production, presentation, and sanitation
  • oversee receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food items
  • manage security operations including key control, yeast control, knife and blade control, inmate accountability
  • conduct routine contraband searches in work areas
  • maintain overall security responsibilities of the institution
  • ensure adherence to food safety and correctional policies
