Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- meet special employment conditions including pre-employment checks and training
- have Selective Service registration if applicable
- provide Food Protection Manager Certification
- successful completion of a correctional techniques training course
- willingness to complete a 1-year probationary period
- pass background investigation, drug test, and security checks
- submit all required documents
- no felony or misdemeanor convictions disqualifying for carrying firearms
Job Qualifications
- Sufficient training and experience to perform position duties
- ability to supervise
- aptitude for work with prisoners
- knowledge of food preparation principles including recipe development
- experience cooking large quantities
- knowledge of special and modified diets
- Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-accredited provider
Job Duties
- Provide supervision and instruction to inmate workers assigned kitchen duties
- provide continual training to inmate workers on food production, presentation, and sanitation
- oversee receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food items
- manage security operations including key control, yeast control, knife and blade control, inmate accountability
- conduct routine contraband searches in work areas
- maintain overall security responsibilities of the institution
- ensure adherence to food safety and correctional policies
