Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Meet eligibility criteria for CTAP or ICTAP if applicable
- Must complete pre-employment screening including background check, urinalysis, physical, and panel interview
- Satisfactory completion of Core Value Assessment with minimum passing score
- Successful completion of "Introduction to Correctional Techniques" training
- Provide proof of Food Protection Manager Certification at the time of application
- Subject to 1-year probationary period
- Must comply with Selective Service registration requirements
- Ability to carry a firearm subject to qualification inquiry
- Must be under maximum entry age of 36 unless prior federal law enforcement coverage or veteran status applies
Job Qualifications
- Possess Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-accredited provider
- Demonstrate ability to supervise inmate workers
- Experience in large-scale food preparation and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of special and modified diets such as high protein, low cholesterol, low fat, calorie restricted, and sodium restricted diets
- Ability to plan and prepare entire meals
- Skills in making substitutions and adjustments in food preparation
- Sufficient training and experience to perform duties independently
Job Duties
- Provide supervision and instruction to 25-30 inmate workers assigned to cooking, butchering, baking, and kitchen duties
- Provide continual training to inmate workers on food production, presentation, and sanitation
- Oversee receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food items
- Manage security operations including key, yeast, knife, and blade control
- Ensure inmate accountability and conduct routine contraband searches
- Maintain overall institution security as a correctional staff member
- Monitor compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
