Job Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must meet Barely Acceptable levels on ability to supervise and aptitude for working with prisoners
- Must possess Food Protection Manager Certification
- Completion of Introduction to Correctional Techniques training
- Successful completion of background and security checks
- Must pass Core Value Assessment and other screening requirements
- Willingness to serve a 1-year probationary period
- Compliance with selective service registration if applicable
- Must undergo physical exam and drug testing
- Ability to complete mandatory training at Glynco, Georgia
Job Qualifications
- Sufficient training and experience to perform duties
- Ability to supervise inmate workers
- Aptitude for working with prisoners
- Knowledge of food preparation principles and large quantity cooking
- Understanding of special and modified diets
- Possession of Food Protection Manager Certification accredited by ANSI
- Ability to interpret instructions and maintain tools and equipment
- Knowledge of materials, dexterity, and safety practices
Job Duties
- Provide supervision and instruction to 25-30 inmate workers assigned to various kitchen duties
- Provide continual training on food production, presentation, and sanitation
- Oversee receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food inventory
- Manage security operations including key, yeast, knife, and blade control
- Conduct routine contraband searches in the work area
- Maintain institutional security as a primary responsibility
- Ensure quality control in food preparation and adherence to safety standards
