Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must meet Barely Acceptable levels on ability to supervise and aptitude for working with prisoners
  • Must possess Food Protection Manager Certification
  • Completion of Introduction to Correctional Techniques training
  • Successful completion of background and security checks
  • Must pass Core Value Assessment and other screening requirements
  • Willingness to serve a 1-year probationary period
  • Compliance with selective service registration if applicable
  • Must undergo physical exam and drug testing
  • Ability to complete mandatory training at Glynco, Georgia

Job Qualifications

  • Sufficient training and experience to perform duties
  • Ability to supervise inmate workers
  • Aptitude for working with prisoners
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles and large quantity cooking
  • Understanding of special and modified diets
  • Possession of Food Protection Manager Certification accredited by ANSI
  • Ability to interpret instructions and maintain tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of materials, dexterity, and safety practices

Job Duties

  • Provide supervision and instruction to 25-30 inmate workers assigned to various kitchen duties
  • Provide continual training on food production, presentation, and sanitation
  • Oversee receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food inventory
  • Manage security operations including key, yeast, knife, and blade control
  • Conduct routine contraband searches in the work area
  • Maintain institutional security as a primary responsibility
  • Ensure quality control in food preparation and adherence to safety standards
