Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
- Successfully pass urinalysis drug screening prior to appointment
- Selective services registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Complete online onboarding process with acceptable identification
- Fulfill all application requirements including resume and supporting documents
- Agree to a one-year probationary period
- Willingness to comply with seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain exemption
- Ability to work Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm with possible schedule changes
- No relocation or recruitment incentives authorized
- Ability to supervise and manage food production teams
- Effective communication and organizational skills
Job Qualifications
- Show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform job duties
- Knowledge of dexterity and safety in cooking environments
- Ability to interpret instructions and specifications other than blueprint reading
- Experience in leading or supervising staff
- Familiarity with materials used in food production
- Knowledge of technical practices related to cooking and food service
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment used in food preparation
- Understanding of proper work practices in a food service environment
Job Duties
- Coordinate and direct the operation of the Food Service and Production areas using standards, procedures, diet manuals, modified menus, and production sheets
- Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher supervisors
- Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors
- Use resources to operate within a planned financial budget
- Manage supervision of labor, allocation of subsistence and supplies, and other resources required for meal service
- Participate in meetings and discussions on work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, and operational recommendations
- Prepare performance requirements and work schedules in accordance with established policies
- Provide technical direction and training for scheduling work operations with complex steps
- Investigate work-related issues such as excessive costs or low productivity
- Perform as first-level supervisor over Cooks WG-7404-04, WG-7404-06, and WG-7404-08
- Perform other related duties as assigned
