Job Requirements

  • u.s. citizenship
  • suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
  • pass a urinalysis test for illegal drug use prior to appointment
  • selective services registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • complete online onboarding process including acceptable forms of identification
  • serve a 1-year probationary period
  • meet experience requirements demonstrating ability to perform the work
  • no education substitution allowed
  • comply with influenza vaccination requirement or obtain exemption
  • ability to work full-time, rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 40 lbs. unassisted
  • wear proper hair covering and clean uniform
  • use disposable gloves when handling food
  • adhere to safety and sanitary regulations in kitchen and food service areas

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and direct the operation of the Food Service and Production areas using standards, procedures, diet manuals, modified menus, and production sheets
  • establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences based on general work schedules, methods, and policies
  • coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors
  • use resources to operate within a planned financial budget
  • share managerial responsibility for the supervision of labor, allocation of subsistence and supplies, and all other resources required to accomplish quality Veteran centered meal services
  • participate in meetings and discussions regarding planning of work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations
  • prepare performance requirements and work schedules in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • provide technical direction and training when scheduling work operations with complex steps and processes
  • investigate work-related issues such as excessive costs or low productivity and determine causes
  • perform as first-level supervisor over Cooks WG-7404-04, WG-7404-06, and WG-7404-08
  • perform other related duties as assigned
