Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic food preparation principles
  • Ability to read and follow recipes
  • Understanding of nutrition program philosophy and regulations
  • Basic communication and writing skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to operate kitchen machinery
  • Ability to maintain tuberculosis skin test
  • Ability to work in moderate noise and occasional outdoor conditions

Job Duties

  • Follow planned menus to prepare meals
  • Prepare meals following quantity production and portion control techniques
  • Document meal services accurately
  • Operate kitchen machinery safely
  • Communicate effectively with managers, patients, and the public
  • Comply with Child Nutrition Program requirements and regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the food preparation area
