Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- successful completion of the Cook Specialist II examination
- valid tuberculosis risk assessment or test
- fingerprint clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice
- ability to work scheduled hours Monday through Friday
- willingness to comply with drug and alcohol testing policies
- ability to perform physical tasks associated with cooking and food preparation
Job Qualifications
- completion of the examination to obtain list eligibility for the Cook Specialist II classification
- knowledge of safe food handling techniques and practices
- experience in cooking, baking and food preparation
- ability to supervise junior food service staff
- effective communication skills
- ability to follow detailed production work sheets
- familiarity with health and safety regulations in a kitchen setting
Job Duties
- prepare meals that are appetizing, appealing and safe to eat
- prepare, cook, bake and transport food items as specified on the production work sheets
- follow safe food handling techniques and practices
- utilize and store leftovers
- supervise Food Services Technicians in the absence of supervising Cook II and the Director of Dietetics
- adhere to tuberculosis risk assessment and fingerprint clearance procedures
- comply with reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing policies
