Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous kitchen supervisory experience preferred
  • ability to stand and walk for long periods (6 hours or more)
  • ability to stoop, squat, and kneel frequently
  • ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to or more than 50 pounds occasionally
  • tolerance to extreme temperature changes from hot steam environments to cold refrigerator/freezer conditions
  • safe knife and kitchen equipment handling skills
  • closed-toe, non-canvas, and non-skid soled shoes required
  • ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime
  • punctuality and professional appearance
  • must follow safety and sanitation policies

Job Duties

  • prepares a variety of foods using different cooking methods including steaming, baking, boiling, frying, broiling, and grilling to meet production schedules
  • pulls required items for prep in sufficient quantities according to forecast
  • prepares ingredients including portioning, chopping, and storing food
  • washes and peels fresh fruits and vegetables
  • weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients
  • prepares cold foods
  • operates kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers
  • sets up, clears, and breaks down workstations
  • prepares food according to standard recipes, quality, and presentation standards
  • tests food to ensure proper cooking
  • monitors food quality throughout preparation
  • maintains proper food temperatures and portioning
  • washes and disinfects kitchen areas, tools, and equipment
  • cleans work and storage areas, maintaining sanitation
  • reports maintenance issues promptly
  • follows company and safety policies ensuring compliance
  • adheres to corporate environmental procedures related to job functions
  • controls waste and manages food costs
  • continuously trains and re-trains in food preparation, safety, and sanitation
  • fosters teamwork and open communication
  • works safely and efficiently with all kitchen equipment
  • responds professionally to questions and requests
