Job Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma or GED
- Requires a minimum of one year of cooking experience in a regulated environment
- OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Requires knowledge of the Privacy Act and its application
- Requires First Aid/CPR certificate within 180 days of hire
- Requires food handlers card within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture
- This position may require driving

Job Duties
- Prepares all meals and snacks for residents of both lodges
- Cleans dining area, kitchen equipment and work areas
- Loads and unloads dishwasher and returns equipment to its proper place during and after each meal preparation
- Maintains standard of sanitation, health, safety, and nutrition
- Organizes and maintains kitchen areas
- Conducts periodic deep cleaning in common areas
- Properly handles, stores, and labels leftover food items
- Works in conjunction with the department supervisor to coordinate food procurement through outside food vendors
- Organizes and maintains the pantry area and ensures it is kept clean
- Assists with shopping for food items
- Responsible for all meal preparation, ensures all items needed for the daily menu are ready, and ensures any special arrangements necessary are made
- Maintains recipe collection of frequent menu items and specialty items of interest
- Maintains inventory of stock and monitors expiration dates
- Communicates any variations in menu or additional food items needed to supervisor
- Reports any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisor for recommended action
- Assists with recreational cooking activities that may be scheduled
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor
