- ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods
- knowledge of food handling techniques and safety standards
- capability to follow established recipes and dietary guidelines
- ability to work the specified schedule including early morning and evening shifts
- ability to read and write English
- willingness to work in a senior living community environment
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma preferred
- ability to read and write English
- previous experience in dietary department of a health care facility preferred
- knowledge of preparing and cooking a variety of foods in large quantities
- understanding of special diets, seasoning requirements, cooking times, and temperature controls
- ability to estimate food quantities, limit waste, and utilize leftovers
- demonstration of core values including love, kindness, honesty, goodness, fairness, and respect
Job Duties
- prepare food for cooking such as peeling, washing, trimming, and cutting vegetables and fruit
- cook food using various methods including baking, roasting, stewing, and steaming
- season and cook meats, fish, and fowl according to recipes
- estimate quantities of food required and portion servings following dietary guidelines
- taste and observe food to ensure quality and conformity with recipes
- serve food according to dietary guidelines ensuring completeness and accuracy
- follow federal and state food safety regulations and company policies
