Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred
- minimum ability to read and write English
- previous experience in health care dietary department preferred
- ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- knowledge of special diets and seasoning requirements
- ability to estimate food quantities and limit waste
- ability to follow food safety regulations
- strong attention to detail
- availability to work Thursday through Monday, 10:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Job Qualifications

- high school diploma preferred but minimum ability to read and write English
- previous experience in dietary department of health care facility preferred
- ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- awareness of special diets, seasoning requirements, cooking times, and temperature controls
- ability to estimate food quantities, limit waste, and utilize leftovers while serving attractive meals
Job Duties
- Handle and prepare food that is palatable, appetizing, and attractive
- comply with meal schedules
- follow standard recipes and make independent decisions in line with experience
- understand importance of proper food-handling techniques and hazards
- be familiar with seasoning and cooking time required
- estimate quantities of food required and apportion servings while monitoring portion control guidelines
- prepare foodstuffs for cooking including peeling, washing, trimming, and cutting vegetables and fruit
- cook food by baking, roasting, stewing, and steam-cooking meats, fish, and fowl
- taste, smell, and observe food to ensure conformity with recipes and appearance
- serve food according to dietary guidelines, checking each tray for completeness and accuracy
- prepare cold meats, sandwiches, griddle cakes, cooked cereals, and beverages
