- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years of cooking experience
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Knowledge of food preparation methods and presentation
- Skill in cooking a variety of foods
- Ability to organize and coordinate kitchen activities
- Ability to accept receipt of food goods and supplies
- Ability to record inventory and order stock
- Ability to maintain clean work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Ability to prepare special diets according to prescribed standards
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing 35 pounds with assistance
- Ability to stand and walk frequently
- Ability to balance frequently
- Ability to perform fine and gross manipulation frequently
- Ability to see, hear, and talk constantly
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years of experience working as a cook
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Organizing and coordinating skills
- Knowledge of inventory control and stock ordering
- Ability to prepare special diets according to prescribed standards
Job Duties
- Lead and assist in preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of simple pastries, breads, sandwiches, salads, and fruits
- Test foods being cooked for quality
- Receive food ingredients and supplies from the pantry for daily operations
- Review production schedules to determine food requirements and assemble supplies and equipment
- Organize and coordinate food preparation and kitchen activities
- Maintain clean work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Complete production sheets and other required records
