Job Requirements

  • Six months of experience in quantity food preparation or graduation from an approved culinary program
  • Possession of Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate or ability to pass Food Handlers Test given by verified manager or designee
  • Availability to work full-time hours (64 hours every two weeks) with varied shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to coordinate and prepare large volume meals
  • Commitment to follow food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work at Scripps Mercy Hospital campus in Hillcrest
  • Willingness to collaborate with food service and healthcare teams

Job Qualifications

  • Six months of experience in quantity food preparation or graduation from an approved culinary program
  • Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate or ability to pass Food Handlers Test administered by a verified manager or designee
  • Experience in quantity food preparation in healthcare preferred
  • ServSafe Certificate preferred
  • Formal culinary or quantity cooking education preferred

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and prepare large volumes of meals for patients, cafeteria, and special events
  • Support safe food handling and sanitation practices
  • Assist in menu development and modification
  • Assemble meals and control portion sizes
  • Manage inventory to ensure adequate food supplies
  • Follow infection control and safety regulatory requirements
  • Comply with established food service policies and procedures
