Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- one year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
- freedom from illegal drug use
- freedom from the use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
- ability to demonstrate literacy
- ability to effectively present information and respond to supervision
- ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- ability to apply common sense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepare balanced meals to meet residents’ nutritional needs
- supervise dietary department employees in the absence of Dietary Manager
- interview, hire, and train employees
- plan, assign, and direct work
- prepare work assignment sheets
- find replacements for absent staff
- transfer employees among kitchens and dining areas
- prepare performance evaluations
- discipline and reward employees
- schedule and adjust lunches and breaks
- approve time card errors and authorize overtime with supervisor’s approval
- receive and resolve employee complaints
- determine rotation of employees
- monitor and correct job performance
- manage facility in absence of higher management
- use independent judgment and discretion to perform duties
