Job Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in culinary/kitchen and/or food preparation training/food handler’s certification or 1 year of experience in institutional and batch cooking in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and meet deadlines
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in culinary/kitchen and/or food preparation training/food handler’s certification or 1 year of experience in institutional and batch cooking in a fast-paced environment
  • ServSafe experience preferred
  • 1 year of experience in a hospital food service setting preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Use standardized recipes to prepare menu items for patients, cafeteria, and special functions
  • Use proper techniques and maintain proper temperature when inspecting, handling, preparing, serving, and storing all items
  • Cover, label, and date all leftovers and use proper methods of waste disposal
  • Keep accurate records of the amount of each item used and amount left on hand
  • Comply with infection control, safety, Department of Public Health, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures and regulations
