Job Requirements

  • Lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Stand, pivot, and walk on hard surfaces during shift
  • Exposure to heat, cold, steam and fumes
  • Ability to follow food safety guidelines
  • Satisfactory attendance and timeliness
  • Ability to prepare soups, casseroles, sauces, gravies, roast, bake, braise, or steam meats, starches and vegetables

Job Qualifications

  • Two years experience in a high-volume kitchen
  • Ability to read and write and follow standardized recipes
  • Ability to perform basic kitchen mathematical calculations
  • ServSafe certified or ability to acquire certification within 90 days
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold menu items following recipes under supervision
  • Assist with preparing, cooking, and packaging meals and snacks for children according to CACFP and health standards
  • Use culinary skills to produce high quality products ensuring excellent taste, appearance, and texture
  • Portion and package food according to meal orders minimizing waste
  • Requisition products and supplies in advance from menu plans
  • Maintain safe, clean work areas and follow sanitation policies
  • Train and assist other kitchen staff, temporary workers, or volunteers
