Job Requirements
- Lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs
- Stand, pivot, and walk on hard surfaces during shift
- Exposure to heat, cold, steam and fumes
- Ability to follow food safety guidelines
- Satisfactory attendance and timeliness
- Ability to prepare soups, casseroles, sauces, gravies, roast, bake, braise, or steam meats, starches and vegetables
Job Qualifications
- Two years experience in a high-volume kitchen
- Ability to read and write and follow standardized recipes
- Ability to perform basic kitchen mathematical calculations
- ServSafe certified or ability to acquire certification within 90 days
- Effective communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Prepare hot and cold menu items following recipes under supervision
- Assist with preparing, cooking, and packaging meals and snacks for children according to CACFP and health standards
- Use culinary skills to produce high quality products ensuring excellent taste, appearance, and texture
- Portion and package food according to meal orders minimizing waste
- Requisition products and supplies in advance from menu plans
- Maintain safe, clean work areas and follow sanitation policies
- Train and assist other kitchen staff, temporary workers, or volunteers
